Executive Leadership meets weekly in the fall semester on Thursdays from 4-6 p.m., students must be available for the full duration of the meeting to participate. Each week will address a different topic to help students prepare for life after graduation. Examples of topics may include: 

• Building your personal brand and presence
• Leading people & building teams
• Managing work/life balance
• Interviewing and salary negotiations
• Understanding your strengths
• A young alumni panel
• And more! 

• Attend the weekly meeting sessions dressed in business casual attire 
• Actively engage and connect with other participants and speakers
• Serve in one of two roles: 
  • Guest Presenters: introduce the speaker for the week and/or moderate any panels
  • Closers: Serve as a lead notetaker for the week; they will share out themes and highlights from the presentations at the close of each meeting
• Attend monthly (virtual) advising appointments with an Executive Leadership mentor (a graduate of Executive Leadership and/or another LCE program) 
• Complete a 1-1 advising appointment with the program advisor
• Create a personal leadership portfolio 

To be eligible to participate in Executive Leadership, you must be planning to graduate within the year. For Fall 2026, this means students are intending to graduate in December 2026, May 2027, or August 2027. If you are graduating later than that, you should consider joining a another program such as Leadership Fellows or SERVE Team. 

As a member of Executive Leadership, each participant serves in at least one of two roles. 

• Guest Presenter: The Guest Presenter is responsible for reaching out to the guest presenter or presenters for the week and will introduce them to the cohort. They may also have the opportunity to moderate panels throughout the semester. This role is an opportunity to practice professional communication and public speaking skills. 
• Closer: The Closer will serve as the "lead notetaker" for a session. At the close of that week's workshop, the Closer will then share key highlights or takeaways from the topic. This role is an opportunity to practice skills around public speaking and synthesizing and summarizing information effectively. 

As a member of Executive Leadership, each student will be paired with a UNC Charlotte alum. Preference will be given to alumni who are Executive Leadership graduates or graduates of other Leadership & Community Engagement programs. The mentor will serve as a resource for students in the program and an individual from whom a participant can learn about the transition to life after graduation.
