OVERVIEW
In January 2014, a cohort-based women’s leadership conversation series was created for students who currently act as leaders (whether in positional roles or not) to interact with and learn from women leaders in our community.
Women in the community or from our alumni share their stories, answer questions and engage in conversations with UNC Charlotte students about their personal experiences as women and leaders in their fields, their families or their communities. This might include how she chose her field, what steps she took to become a leader in her field, who helped her if anyone and how, what got in her way and how she overcame those obstacles, etc.
TOPICS
Topics for the series may include: leadership style in practice, breaking into male-dominated fields, the role of mentorship in women's leadership, the choice to work outside of the home or in the home, and negotiating for career progression.
HOW TO NOMINATE
Participants are nominated by faculty and staff across campus and those nominated are asked to submit an application. Approximately 20-25 students will be selected for each cohort.
