Forty-Niner Forum Speaker Series Committee 

The Committee is organized into 2 teams: the Marketing Team and Outreach Team, as well as three executive positions. The Committee decides when it will add new members, and will announce when applications and what positions are open during those times.  

EXPECTATIONS OF ALL CHAIRS AND REPRESENTATIVES

  • Attend weekly meetings. Missing more than 2 meetings/events excused or unexcused within a month’s time will be grounds for termination.
  • Be punctual and timely for all events and meetings.
  • Complete duties as assigned in position description, as well as by the Staff & Student co-chairs.
  • Communicate consistently with members of the committee [as determined by the committee].
  • Serve for one full term [academic year].
  • Must have a sound GPA and be in good academic standing.
  • Resignation
    • Provide a 2-weeks notice.
    • Submit all materials – contacts, forms, information, etc. to the committee chairs.

STUDENT CO-CHAIR

  • Attend Chair meetings.
  • Plan meetings and develop the agenda in conjunction with the Staff co-chair.
  • Provide leadership and ensure the effective operation of the governing body.
  • Ensure that decisions made at meetings are implemented via strategy, delegation, and follow-through.
  • Act as a spokesperson for the organization.
  • Staff co-chair is the Assistant Director of Leadership & Community Engagement.

ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION CHAIR

  • Assess, via survey, the university community's social and intellectual interests.
  • Evaluate the survey results for feedback on recent speaking engagements, as well as for suggestions to future events.
  • Brainstorm and produce creative incentives in which the community could participate.
  • Work productively, as designated by the co-chairs, with all other members of the committee.

PRO TEM

  • Provisional members are responsible for attending meetings to provide a voice for the portion of the campus community he/she represents. These positions are labeled pro tem because any person representing these groups can be present; consistency of person is not required.

MARKETING TEAM

  • PRINT MARKETING CHAIR

    • Promote the Forum and upcoming speakers through print marketing, which includes, but is not limited to, posters, banners, buttons, cling-ons, sidewalk chalk, t-shirts, promo items, and any other creative form of publicity.
    • Work often with the SMOM Chair [below] to promote the promo items purchased/used for upcoming events.
    • Work with the Assessment & Evaluation Chair to evaluate current marketing schemes used to notify the campus community, as well as develop and implement schemes that catch the attention of our community.
    • Work in tandem with the Division of Student Affairs Marketing Team.
    • Be aware of Division of Student Affairs Marketing guidelines and deadlines, to properly plan for events to come.
    • Work productively, as designated by the co-chairs, with all other members of the committee.
  • SOCIAL MEDIA & ON-LINE MARKETING CHAIR

    • Promote the Forum and upcoming speakers through social media and other online platforms, which includes, but is not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, electronic banners, etc.
    • Work often with the Print Marketing Chair [above] to promote the upcoming event through creative info display, incentives, etc.
    • Work with the Assessment & Evaluation Chair to evaluate current marketing schemes used to notify the campus community, as well as develop and implement schemes that catch the attention of our community.
    • Work in tandem with the Division of Student Affairs Marketing Team.
    • Be aware of Division of Student Affairs Marketing guidelines and deadlines, to properly plan for events to come.
    • Work productively, as designated by the co-chairs, with all other members of the committee.

OUTREACH TEAM

  • COMMUNITY OUTREACH CHAIR

    • Research potential funding or collaborative resources via the Internet, directories, phone, professional literature, etc.
    • Distribute information and correspondence about upcoming events to community business, groups, and organizations.
    • Manage and updates contact information for community businesses, groups, and organizations in the directory.
    • Act as a liaison for the committee to the community.
    • Work in tandem with the Marketing Team and the Campus Outreach Chair.
  • CAMPUS OUTREACH CHAIR

    • Research potential funding or collaborative resources via the SGOC.
    • Distribute information and correspondence about upcoming events to Student Organizations and offices via the SGOC weekly newsletter and Inside UNC Charlotte.
    • Manage and updates contact information for student organizations and offices.
    • Act as a liaison for the committee to the campus.
    • Work in tandem with the Marketing Team and the Campus Outreach Chair.
